Day 1:
departure from Arusha, breakfast and briefing, and transfer to Impala hotel in Moshi for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2:
after the breakfast, transfer to the Marangu Route and departure for the climbing 3 to 4 hour march to Marangu (2700m), picnic, visit of the Maundi crater. Dinner and accommodation in Marangu Hotel

Day 3:
early wakening, breakfast and departure for a 7 or 8 hour walk with picnic. Dinner and accommodation in Horombo Hut (3720m)

Day 4:
day in Horombo Hut, rest

Day 5:
departure for Kibo, 5 to 7 hour walk. The temperature is low because of high altitude. Picnic for lunch, dinner and accommodation in Kibo Hut (4703m)

Day 6:
departure after midnight and 6 to 7 hour walk to reach Gillman’s Point (5685m) then 1 to 2 hours to Uhuru Pic (5895m)
Return to Horombo Hut for dinner and accommodation, approximately 7 to 8 hour descent

Day 7:
last day in the mountain, descent and return via the Marangu Route, dinner and accommodation in Nakara Hotel

Day 8:
transfer to Arusha
   
 
 

Things to be carried to climb Kilimanjaro

Chill and altitude sickness are hikers’ two main enemies. Here are the important items you have to carry
-a big kit bag to put the major of your belongings, you will hand it to the porter every morning (can’t exceed 15kg)
-a little backpack for the things you need for the daytime
-a sleeping bag which can withstand below 0°C (essential)
-a pair of shoes fit for your feet
-raincoat in case of rainfall
-a mountain anorak or a Goretex-style jacket
-a polar fibre fleece
-a pair of mountain mittens and a pair of silk gloves
-a cap for the sunshine and a wool bonnet
-mountain trousers and a short knickers for the first stages
-T shirts, pairs of socks
-a frontal lamp for the last night stage
-a pair of sunglasses
-a high protection sunscreen cream and a lipstick
-medicines: anti-queasy medicines, Diamox tablets (for mountain sickness), anti inflammatory ointment, an adhesive tape, water purifying lozenge
-a thermos for tea or coffee
